Yhro is a sparse system with little free hydrogen. Its only inhabited planet has a thin CO tainted atmosphere without any liquid water. The population is concentrated in a collection of low-tech surface and underground cities, the largest of which has a crude downport.

Due to its limited trade potential, the system has so far eluded much interest from merchants, navies, tourism, or science. The native government was removed without much incident when the system was siezed by the Prokoetaal Expeditionary Forces in 4002. Its population remains unmilitarized after the occupation. The PEF maintains a sub-orbital garrison and communications boats, as well as ground troops and bureaucrats to govern the native population.

The PEF is almost finished constructing an orbital waystation for messaging and other naval space traffic. When completed, ships will no longer have to go planetside to refuel.

Situation in 4014

Occupation Government

The PEF garrison is a battalion-strength occupational regiment, 140 officers and men led by PEF Captain Guruykan. plus a naval support company of 40 spacers and engineers led by Captain Freesh. The diplomatic attache is Ichukno, a relatively young but politically connected Prokoetaal Academy officer, and 8 staff. The three leaders, with Ichukno at the apex, are a tribunal government, around which much of the day-to-day decisions revolve.

The Occupational Government can be found at the Statehouse at Yhro main city (Yhro), at the opposite end of the A-Line railway from Yhro downport.

Local resistance

The massacre and brutal occupation of neighboring Mohan was widely broadcast to the Yhro population as a warning, which effectively pushed any resistance from the relatively peaceful-minded people of Yhro deep underground. Mohan resistance propaganda at the time speculated about a safehouse for Mohan refugees in Yhro, but not much is known.

Poverty and crime are a constant problem that the Prokoetaal military has little interest in addressing. Organized crime (drugs, racketeering) have recently gotten powerful enough to meaningfully bribe the occupation. Two rival gangs are Worm and Orancine, but little is known about either.

Charity Committee

Community leaders in the three largest cities have organized a "Charity Committee" that is also petitioning the captive government for various humanitarian needs. Abhishek, a former senator from the Yhro native government, is its head. The former editors of the local news, siblings Roberto and Hassana Danton, are also notable Charity Committee members.

There is no interstellar commerce or news outside of what the tribunal controls. Most traffic is for influx of manufactured goods and higher tech commodities, paid for by a central tax and sold at hign margin in a captive market. Captain Freesh of the tribunal is in charge of all civilian interstellar commerce.

Yhro's main exportable commodity has been industrial crystals. The industry's two manufacturing companies have been siezed and nationalized by the occupation, so commercial arrangements are likewise done through the PEF.

In the eight years since the planet's capture, there have only been a handful commercial arrivals from outside Prokoetaal volumes. There is little commercial interest in any of the uncontrolled output of Yhro.
